2024 Artists-in-Residence

We’re pleased to announce dates for the 2024 artists-in-residence program with the First Nations Anangu artists from Ernabella Arts.

Longitude 131°’s artists-in-residence program sees artists travel from Ernabella to stay a few days at the lodge, to paint with a view to World Heritage-listed natural icons Uluru and Kata Tjuta. This year’s program dates are:

March 18-21
May 13-16
July 22-25
September 16-19
November 18-21.

The program offers a chance for our guests to see how the artists work and watch the intricate, vibrant works – ceramics and on canvas – take shape in the cool surrounds of the Dune House where the artists’ completed artworks contrast beautifully with the sands of the outback.

Located in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY Lands) some 250km – or a 30-minute scenic flight – from Longitude 131°, Ernabella Arts Inc supplies the vibrant ceramics, canvases, tiles and spears (kulata) to the lodge which are seen in guest tents, in the Dune House bar and restaurant and Spa Kinara. Many artworks are also for sale in the boutique.

Proceeds from the artwork commissions and sales contribute to the community’s income, ensuring the sustainable economic growth and preservation of the culture for its residents.

Since 2016, Baillie Lodges has partnered with Ernabella Arts to provide $50,000 annually to support a dedicated mentor for the artists with the aim of establishing commercially viable, sustainable enterprise.
